We are not responsible for climate change. We are not responsible to find sustainable energy solutions. Our leaders are the ones responsible to drive change. But politics seem scary, complicated and unreliable. This is what #greenfluencer Margarita Samsonova, @margreen_s, said in her amazing talk at the European Youth Energy Day @europeancommission. Through her talk, highly recommended, and the joint dialogue, we gained three amazing insights: First: It is a fact that our leaders and older generations have the main responsibility and the power to find sustainable energy innovations to help decarbonise the environment. But at the same time us, the younger generations, must get involved and become part of the change. Second: Luckily for all, awareness has grown for sustainable energy and nature-based solutions (in other words, ways of using nature to solve environmental problems). Third: The passing of the baton between generations in climate activism symbolizes collaboration, not responsibility transfer. That’s why we need more young leaders to create a powerful sustainability movement. Fourth: Sharing hopeful stories and supporting sustainable energy, fosters a love for nature and the betterment of the world.
