Did you know our behaviour can influence how our food is produced? Experts in Climate-smart agriculture are looking at how our behaviours can help shift towards more sustainable and eco-friendly food systems. But how does this work? To build a sustainable food system, we must look at food chains from beginning to end -from farmers to retailers and consumers. Everyone has a role to play! By working together, farmers and consumers can come up with solutions that fit specific agricultural needs, while making sure the solutions are environmentally friendly, of course. To do this we must look at our behaviours and bias towards agricultural practices. That is what the EU’s BEATLES project is all about. By tracking the behaviours of farmers, retailers, and consumers, BEATLES identifies what helps or blocks changes towards more sustainable practices. As a result, these insights help create business strategies and policy recommendations that support environmentally friendly food systems.
